1/2red apple (I find honey crisp and pink lady apples to work well)
1/2large navel orange
1/2cuplarge strawberries
4tbspbrown sugar
3/4cupfreshly squeezed orange juice
1/3cupbrandy
1bottlered winethe traditional choice is a dry Spanish red, but use the wine you most prefer!
Instructions
Slice the apple and orange into small pieces, making sure to remove any seeds, but leave the skins on. Remove the strawberry stems and cut into slices. Add the fruit to a large pitcher, along with the brown sugar. Muddle the fruit and sugar together for ~1 minute.
Add the brandy and orange juice and muddle together for an additional minute.
Add the bottle of wine, and stir well to combine. Taste now and adjust as needed with any more sugar, orange juice, or brandy.
If serving immediately, add 1 cup of ice and stir to chill. If making ahead of time, avoid ice until serving and refrigerate for the time being. Serve with more ice and fruit garnish.
