Cuisine Spanish
Servings 4 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 red apple (I find honey crisp and pink lady apples to work well)
  • 1/2 large navel orange
  • 1/2 cup large strawberries
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/3 cup brandy
  • 1 bottle red wine the traditional choice is a dry Spanish red, but use the wine you most prefer!

Instructions

  • Slice the apple and orange into small pieces, making sure to remove any seeds, but leave the skins on. Remove the strawberry stems and cut into slices. Add the fruit to a large pitcher, along with the brown sugar. Muddle the fruit and sugar together for ~1 minute.
  • Add the brandy and orange juice and muddle together for an additional minute.
  • Add the bottle of wine, and stir well to combine. Taste now and adjust as needed with any more sugar, orange juice, or brandy.
  • If serving immediately, add 1 cup of ice and stir to chill. If making ahead of time, avoid ice until serving and refrigerate for the time being. Serve with more ice and fruit garnish.
  • Enjoy!
