Few things are better than some hot mulled cider in the winter! This is the perfect hot beverage for the holiday season and makes the whole house smell incredible. The cinnamon and apple make a delicious (and cozy) combo, and it’s incredibly easy to make for yourself and any guests you’ve got for the holidays!
Hot Mulled Cider
Equipment
- 5-quart slow cooker
Ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider (look for fresh and unfiltered!) q
- 2 medium oranges
- 1 piece of fresh ginger, ~2" long
- 5 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tbsp whole cloves
Instructions
- Fill the slow cooker with the apple cider.
- Cut one orange into slices, ~1/4" thick. Peel the ginger and cut into 1/4" slices. Add the orange slices, ginger, and cinnamon sticks to the cider. If you have cheesecloth and twine, you can wrap up the cloves (or any other spices you choose, like a pre-made mulling spice mix) into a little pouch and tie it off with the twine, to make it easier to fish out later. Either way, add the rest of the spices to the cider.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook the cider on LOW for 4 hours. Before serving, cut slices out of the second orange for serving. Garnish with cinnamon sticks.
- Enjoy!
