Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie

I’m all about incorporating more protein into my diet, and smoothies and shakes are easy avenues for getting your gains on. I’ll usually make a simple shake using protein powder, but if you’re looking for a way to avoid the chalkiness of most powders or looking for more natural protein sources, this chocolate peanut butter protein shake is for you! Greek yogurt and peanut butter are going to be the major sources of protein, and you can sweeten it up with honey, Splenda, and cocoa powder. Feel free to add in a banana for extra nutrition and a creamier texture. Most people do NOT consume enough protein in their daily nutrition, but this shake will change your life! How do you like to get your macros in?

Ingredients

  • 1 large banana, sliced and frozen
  • 6 oz 0% greek yogurt, plain (or flavored if you prefer)
  • 3/4 cup milk of your choice
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp creamy peanut butter
  • 1 packet of sweetener (Splenda, Truvia, etc. – optional)
  • chocolate syrup to drizzle, optional

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a powerful blender, and blend on high until smooth. You may want to start with only 2 tbsp of cocoa powder and taste, and then add one more if you want a stronger chocolate flavor. The same goes for the sweetener, I found that I needed to add a little more sweetness than just the honey, but you may not. What yogurt and milk you use will also make a big difference in the overall sweetness.
  • If you'd like, drizzle chocolate syrup along the inside of your glass before pouring in the smoothie. Serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!
